Scottie Thomaston, an activist and writer based in south Alabama, is the Editor and a contributing writer for Courage Campaign Institute’s EqualityOnTrial.com. As Editor he has attended court hearings and extensively covered cases involving important LGBTQ rights, like the appeals court and Supreme Court hearings in Obergefell v. Hodges. He was formerly a longtime contributor to DailyKos, Critical Mass Progress, and HuffPost Queer Voices. As a lifelong activist, he has worked to cover LGBTQ legal rights and the threats to those rights by lawmakers and the courts themselves. He’s written on wide-ranging topics including LGBTQ rights, disability rights, and criminal justice.
